How does WEB-IT-NAMIBIA
work?
When we created this Internet
Portal for Namibia, the following purposes and functions were the
guiding factors:
-
WIN is to serve the Namibian public as well as friends and
supporters of Namibia as an on-line source of information and as
a platform for exchanging information.
Information is mainly
provided on topics relating to: Usage of the Internet &
Web Publishing, Information Technology & IT Applications, and
our home country, Namibia.
Our publication section containing articles, news and other
write-ups serves the exchange of information.
It entails a variety of categories, which cover many different
topics of interest. Contributions made by our readership will be
published free of charge. This includes value-adding comments
and information submitted on any of the contributions
already published.
-
The content of our web pages has to be relevant and useful
to the majority of the Namibian public utilising the Internet
for obtaining information that has an educational and
motivational, if not inspirational value.
Foreign site visitors, especially those with a keen interest in
Namibia, are to be encouraged to expand their knowledge of the
country through our website and to utilise this platform for
enriching the online experiences of Namibia's Internet users as
well as for themselves.
The carefully chosen content of the WIN website addresses
diverse, sometimes seemingly unrelated, topics on purpose. It
cannot and is not intended to appeal to everyone equally but
aims at building a community of regular visitors and users
interested in learning more about and contributing meaningful
content to some of the most outstanding facets of Namibia
presented in an aesthetically pleasing manner.
These facets are represented in web pages carrying content on
already well-developed aspects of Namibia, e.g. tourism, arts
and crafts, as well as numerous fields of special interests.
Others relate to areas where Namibia, a comparatively young
country in terms of finding a national identity, still has
substantial development requirements. Many Namibians are in need
of information, support and access to a much 'larger picture' in
respect of e.g. education, professional training, international
trends, and evaluating their own and their home country's worth
in a global context.
This is where the content of the WebITNamibia website
and that of web pages linked to it all come together:
It is our intention to utilise these pages for broadening the
knowledge base and the views of Namibia as a member of the
global community, in our fellow inhabitants of this country and
everyone else around the world interested in Namibia.
