MEDIA RELEASE

The Namibian Amateur Dance Sport Association (NADSA) held its first Annual General Meeting on Saturday, 28th July 2007 at which the Executive Committee was elected and the Constitution officially adopted.

NADSA’s purpose and objectives are to conform to the international dance sport rules and regulations, in order to administer and enforce standardized rules to which its members organize competitions, championships, events, development and training and which is subject on sporting principles in the best interest of Dance Sport. It will aim to raise and maintain a professional status of all persons engaged in the profession of dancing and which will benefit all dance activities and promote uniformity in rules, standards and regulations through the discipline of a working constitution.

NADSA has received official affiliation status from the Namibia Sports Commission as well as the Namibia National Olympic Committee and will now seek membership with the IDSF (International Dance Sport Federation). The IDSF is recognized by the International Olympic Committee and is governed by the World Dance and Dance Sport Council.

Membership to this Association shall be open for all Ballroom and Latin American Dance clubs as well as other forms of dance clubs. By having affiliation status to this official and legal Namibian body, members will enjoy the privileges and benefits which the NSC and NNOC provides to Namibian athletes.
